# Ryanair vs easyJet vs Wizz Air Cabin Bags Compared

Free under-seat bag and paid cabin bag sizes for Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air, with Norwegian, Aer Lingus and BA for contrast. Read on each airline's site, 25 September 2026.

## Which airline has the biggest free cabin bag: Ryanair, easyJet or Wizz Air?

easyJet. Its free under-seat bag is 45 × 36 × 20 cm, against 40 × 30 × 20 cm on Ryanair and 40 × 30 × 20 cm on Wizz Air. None of the three includes an overhead-locker bag on its cheapest fare; that bag is a paid extra or part of a bundle.

The free bag must fit under the seat in front, and all three airlines check it with a sizer at the gate. A bag that fits easyJet's allowance can be too big for Ryanair's, so a bag bought for one airline is not automatically safe on the others.

The table compares the published allowances on the cheapest fare. Every value was read on the airline's own website on 25 September 2026; the airline's page in the last column is the one to check before you fly.

| Airline | Free under-seat bag | Overhead bag size | Overhead bag weight | Overhead bag on cheapest fare? | Airline page |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Ryanair](/airlines/ryanair) | 40 × 30 × 20 cm | 55 × 40 × 20 cm | 10 kg | No. The 10 kg overhead bag comes only with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags. | [Ryanair bag rules](https://help.ryanair.com/hc/en-gb/articles/12888036565521-Ryanair-s-Bag-Policy) |
| [easyJet](/airlines/easyjet) | 45 × 36 × 20 cm | 56 × 45 × 25 cm | 15 kg | No. The large cabin bag is paid, or included with easyJet Plus membership and Inclusive Plus fares. | [easyJet bag rules](https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/baggage/cabin-bags) |
| [Wizz Air](/airlines/wizz-air) | 40 × 30 × 20 cm | 55 × 40 × 23 cm | 10 kg | No. The trolley bag comes only with WIZZ Priority; wheels may add up to 5 cm. | [Wizz Air bag rules](https://www.wizzair.com/en-gb/help-centre/booking-information-and-services/baggage/baggage-allowance/cabin-baggage) |
| [Norwegian](/airlines/norwegian) | 40 × 30 × 20 cm | 55 × 40 × 23 cm | 10 kg | No. LowFare includes the under-seat bag only; LowFare+ adds an overhead bag; 10 kg is the combined total. | [Norwegian bag rules](https://www.norwegian.com/uk/travel-info/baggage/hand-baggage/) |
| [Aer Lingus](/airlines/aer-lingus) | 40 × 30 × 20 cm | 55 × 40 × 24 cm | 10 kg | Depends on route. Saver fares in Europe exclude the 10 kg bag (it can be checked in free); transatlantic fares include it. | [Aer Lingus bag rules](https://www.aerlingus.com/prepare/bags/carry-on-baggage/) |
| [British Airways](/airlines/british-airways) | 40 × 30 × 15 cm | 56 × 45 × 25 cm | No limit published | Yes. No weight limit published; you must be able to lift the bag into the locker yourself. | [British Airways bag rules](https://www.britishairways.com/content/en/us/information/baggage-essentials) |

## How do you get a larger cabin bag on each airline?

Ryanair: the 10 kg overhead bag comes only with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags. easyJet: the large cabin bag is paid, or included with easyJet Plus membership and Inclusive Plus fares. Wizz Air: the trolley bag comes only with WIZZ Priority; wheels may add up to 5 cm. Adding the bag when you book usually costs less than paying at the airport.

The larger bag is 55 × 40 × 20 cm and 10 kg on Ryanair, 56 × 45 × 25 cm and 15 kg on easyJet, and 55 × 40 × 23 cm and 10 kg on Wizz Air. Prices change by route and date, so the fee is shown when you add the bag to a booking rather than as one fixed price.

If you fly all three, pack to the smallest free allowance: a bag that fits Ryanair's 40 × 30 × 20 cm also fits Wizz Air's and easyJet's. Check it with the [cabin bag size checker](/tools/cabin-bag-size-checker) before you pack.

## Do full-service airlines include a cabin bag?

British Airways includes a 56 × 45 × 25 cm cabin bag and a 40 × 30 × 15 cm under-seat bag on every fare. Aer Lingus sits in between: saver fares in Europe exclude the 10 kg bag (it can be checked in free); transatlantic fares include it.

Norwegian: LowFare includes the under-seat bag only; LowFare+ adds an overhead bag; 10 kg is the combined total. The full list of 30 airlines is in the [cabin bag allowances dataset](/research/airline-cabin-baggage-allowances).
