Four Faro hotels we have read the guest data on — two beside the old town, one on Praça D. Francisco Gomes, one on a central side street — with the complaints written as plainly as the praise.

## Verdict

Stay by the old town if Cidade Velha, Carmo and Ria Formosa access are the week; stay on Praça D. Francisco Gomes if you want marina views at a four-star band; stay on Rua Miguel Bombarda if you want the highest headline score at the lowest star class and will tolerate breakfast inconsistency.

Two of the four carry our hotel data provider point-of-interest distances in our seed: 3HB Faro puts Faro Old Town at 0.4 km, Igreja do Carmo at 0.5 km and Ria Formosa Natural Park at 0.9 km; AP Eva Senses puts the old town and cathedral at 0.3 km and Praia de Faro at 4.5 km. Occidental Faro and Hotel Made inn Faro have no POI rows — we judge them on address, facilities and guest scores, not invented walks.

Guest scores in this sample are unusually high at the top and unusually split underneath. 3HB Faro posts 9.8 out of 10 from 4,003 reviews with flat 9.68s and 10s across most categories; AP Eva Senses carries the same 8.4 headline as Occidental but room quality sits at 7.15 with mold in the bathroom named in the analysis. Francisco Gomes if marina views matter more than measured walks; we have no POI kilometres for Occidental Faro.

## Is Faro a beach hotel destination?

Not from these pins. Praia de Faro is 4.5 km from AP Eva Senses and 6 km from 3HB Faro on our hotel data provider’s figures. Pick Faro for the old town and lagoon access; pick elsewhere on the Algarve for a sand-first week.
