Four Rome hotels we have read the guest data on — two on Via Nazionale by Termini, one by the Pantheon, one at Piazza Venezia — with the complaints written as plainly as the praise.

## Verdict

Stay on Via Nazionale if Termini and the Trevi side matter; stay by the Pantheon if the historic centre is the week; stay at Piazza Venezia if the Imperial ruins are your map.

Two of the four properties sit on the Via Nazionale / Termini knot on our hotel data provider’s figures — Hotel Artemide puts Roma Termini at 0.6 km and the Trevi Fountain at 0.6 km; iQ Hotel Roma puts Termini at 0.4 km. Hotel Nazionale pins the Pantheon at 0.2 km. The Hive Hotel puts Piazza Venezia at 0.2 km and the Roman Forum at 0.4 km. Those are three different walks, not three versions of the same one.

Guest scores in this sample disagree with their own prose more than once. Hotel Artemide carries a 9.6 out of 10 supplier rating from 2,584 reviews while its amenities category sits at 8.66 and cons name a slow elevator and no room service; The Hive posts 8.7 from 8,739 reviews with food and beverage at 7.76 and additional charges for amenities named as cons. We cite both the number and the complaint, dated, and we never restate either as structured data.

## Which area of Rome is best for a first visit?

Via Nazionale and Termini if trains and a dense metro knot matter; the Pantheon belt if the centro storico is the week; Piazza Venezia if the Forum and Colosseum are your map. All three beat a bargain room on the ring road that costs you an hour a day on the bus.

## Is Termini too far from the main sights?

No — our hotel data provider puts the Trevi Fountain at 0.6 km from Hotel Artemide and 0.6 km from iQ Hotel Roma, with Termini itself at 0.4–0.6 km. The Pantheon is further from that belt (1.1–1.3 km), which is why we split Termini and Pantheon into different areas on this page.

## Should I book Rome hotels direct or through a booking site?
