Stay at the Wharf if Pier 39 and waterfront mornings are the week; stay on Union Square if shopping, Powell Street cable cars and BART matter more — then pick inside each pair on guest complaints, not neighbourhood alone.

Two pins, four hotels. Hotel Zephyr puts Fisherman’s Wharf at 0.4 km and Ghirardelli Square at 0.3 km; Handlery and Chancellor both put Union Square within 0.2 km and Powell Street BART at 0.4 km.
