Four Santo Domingo hotels we have read the guest data on — two on the Malecón, one in Piantini, one on Tiradentes — with the complaints written as plainly as the praise.

## Verdict

Stay on George Washington Avenue if the Malecón and Caribbean views are the point; stay in Piantini if you want a five-star IHG tower with city views; stay on Tiradentes if free breakfast and Hilton service matter more than a seafront pin.

Only one of the four carries our hotel data provider point-of-interest distances in our seed: Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua puts the Malecón at 0.1 km, the Zona Colonial at 2.2 km and Las Américas airport (SDQ) at 20 km. Sheraton, InterContinental and Embassy Suites have no POI rows — we judge them on address, facilities and guest scores, not invented walks.

## Which area of Santo Domingo is best for a first visit?

George Washington Avenue if the Malecón and sea views are why you came — Renaissance puts the promenade at 0.1 km on our hotel data provider POI. Piantini or Tiradentes if you want inland dining and shopping with tower-hotel or suite-style facilities. The Colonial Zone is 2.2 km from Renaissance on the only POI set we have; we will not invent distances for the other three.

## Can I walk to the Colonial Zone from these hotels?

From Renaissance, the Zona Colonial is 2.2 km on our hotel data provider’s figures — walkable for some, not a doorstep stroll. Sheraton, InterContinental and Embassy Suites have no POI rows in our seed, so we cannot quote Colonial Zone distances for them.
