# Where to stay in Vienna

Four Vienna hotels we have read the guest data on — a three-star by the Prater, a two-star in Sankt Marx, a four-star capsule on Viehmarktgasse, and a four-star by Westbahnhof — with the complaints written as plainly as the praise.

## Verdict

Stay by Praterstern if Riesenrad at 1.2 km and a perfect location score matter; stay in Sankt Marx if a two-star bed is the brief; stay at Rioca if a 9.2 headline and spacious rooms win; stay by Westbahnhof if a central four-star with friendly staff suits you — accepting softer breakfast scores.

Only one of the four properties carries POI rows. Prize by Radisson puts Wiener Riesenrad at 1.2 km and Wien Praterstern at 0.6 km, with Stephansdom at 3 km and Schönbrunn at 7.5 km. Ibis budget, Rioca and Leonardo have no POI rows — we do not invent kilometre figures for Franzosengraben, Viehmarktgasse or Matrosengasse.

Guest scores split cleanly by price band. Rioca posts 9.2 out of 10 from 18,371 reviews; Prize by Radisson posts 8.5 from 20,000 with location at 10 out of 10 but cleanliness at 7; Ibis budget posts 7.5 with cleanliness at 5.64; Leonardo posts 8.1 from 16,484. We cite scale, count and date — never as structured data.

Nothing on this page quotes a nightly rate. We hold no live rates — the CTAs send you to Booking.com, Agoda, Trip.com or Vrbo. Those are partners; the links may earn commission.

## Which area of Vienna is best for a first visit?

Leopoldstadt and the Prater if Riesenrad at 1.2 km and Praterstern at 0.6 km suit you — the only hotel here with POI rows. Westbahnhof if rail access is the brief; Rioca if a 9.2 headline matters. None of these four is a Stephansdom doorstep — the nearest POI row is 3 km.

## Is the Prater too far from the historic centre?

For a Stephansdom week, partly — Stephansdom is 3 km and Hofburg 3.2 km from Prize by Radisson on our hotel data provider’s figures. For Riesenrad mornings and Praterstern U-Bahn, location scores a perfect 10 out of 10 in guest analysis despite cleanliness concerns.

## Should I book Vienna hotels direct or through a booking site?

It varies by property and by date, which is why we never quote a nightly rate here. Check the partner link for your dates, then check the hotel’s own site before you confirm. Booking.com, Agoda, Trip.com and Vrbo are partners; those links may earn commission.

## Why do you show guest scores but never a star-rating snippet in search results?

Because the scores are not ours. Every review number on this site comes from a supplier’s aggregate. We show the supplier score plainly, attributed and dated, and we never emit it as structured data. We have not stayed — this is a desk assessment from our hotel data provider’s dated guest analysis on the page.

## Rioca or Leonardo for a four-star Vienna stay?

Rioca if the 9.2 headline from 18,371 reviews and spacious rooms win; Leonardo if Westbahnhof rail access and friendly staff matter more than headline score — accepting 8.1 and weaker breakfast numbers.
