Stay on Hang Trong or Đường Thành if Hoàn Kiếm Lake and the Old Quarter are the week; stay on Ngo Quyen if you want the Metropole’s historic address; stay on Ly Thuong Kiet if Meliá’s pool-and-business kit suits a slightly wider map.

All four carry POI distances in our seed. Peridot Grand and Oriental Jade both put the Old Quarter at 0.1 km and Hoàn Kiếm Lake at 0.2–0.7 km; Sofitel Metropole puts the lake at 0.1 km; Meliá puts the lake at 0.8 km and the Old Quarter at 0.9 km. Temple of Literature and the mausoleum distances split the boutique lake pins from Meliá’s slightly wider ring.

Guest scores in this sample disagree with their own prose more than once. Oriental Jade posts flat 10s across every category; Sofitel Metropole posts strong room scores beside breakfast called appalling in the same analysis. The lake, the Quarter’s tube alleys, water-puppet theatre and cathedral within a few hundred metres — the default first-trip Hanoi base in this sample.

Trade-off: It is dense and it can be loud. Peridot notes potential mobility issues; Oriental Jade’s lone con is a trivial breakfast detail in Dutch in the property’s records — read the flat 10s with that grain of salt.
