Where to stay in Marrakech — the verdict

Stay in Hivernage if Jemaa el-Fna and the souks should be walkable; stay in Menara if pools and gardens beat medina noise; stay on Mohamed VI if you want resort scale with billing diligence.

POI distances in our seed split the sample. Kenzi Rose Garden puts Jemaa el-Fna at 1.2 km and the medina at 1.1 km; Pestana CR7 puts Jemaa at 2.3 km but Menara Gardens at 0.4 km; Four Seasons puts Menara Gardens at 0.3 km and Jemaa at 3.8 km; Mövenpick on Mohamed VI puts Jemaa at 4 km and the airport at 5.5 km. That is medina-walkable versus resort-belt geometry.

Guest scores disagree with prose again. Kenzi names bugs and inconsistent cleaning beside friendly staff; Four Seasons names expensive price beside outstanding service; Mövenpick names billing issues beside magnificent rooms. We cite both the number and the complaint, dated, and we never restate either as structured data.

Nothing on this page quotes a nightly rate. We hold no live rates for these properties — the CTAs send you to Booking.com, Agoda, Trip.com or Vrbo so you see the real number for your dates. Those are partners; the links may earn commission.

Best for

  • First-time visitors choosing between medina walks and resort pools
  • Families weighing Kenzi’s medina proximity against Four Seasons gardens
  • Travellers who need airport proximity without sleeping in the souks

Not for

  • Anyone expecting silent medina nights at Kenzi — smoking and cleaning complaints appear
  • Guests who will not chase invoice issues — billing is a named con at Mövenpick
  • Readers hunting a quoted nightly rate on this page — check the partner for your dates

Best Hotels in Marrakech

Marrakech splits into medina-adjacent Hivernage, Menara garden resorts and the newer Mohamed VI corridor. These four sit in three different bases on purpose — not four versions of Jemaa el-Fna on your doorstep.

Popular Marrakech searches

Marrakech hotels — common questions

Which area is best for a first visit to Marrakech?
Hivernage and the medina edge if Jemaa el-Fna walks matter — Kenzi puts the square at 1.2 km on our POI figures. Menara resorts if pools and gardens beat medina noise, accepting a taxi to the souks.
Is Four Seasons too far from the medina?
For a medina-first trip, yes — Jemaa el-Fna is 3.8 km on our POI figures. For a resort week with Menara Gardens at 0.3 km, it is the right product.
Should I book Marrakech hotels direct or through a booking site?
It varies by property and by date, which is why we never quote a nightly rate here. Check the partner link for your dates, then check the hotel’s own site before you confirm. Booking.com, Agoda, Trip.com and Vrbo are partners; those links may earn commission.
Why do you show guest scores but never emit them as structured data?
Because the scores are not ours. Every review number on this site comes from a supplier’s aggregate. We show the supplier score plainly, attributed and dated, and we never emit it as structured data.
Which hotel is closest to the airport?
Mövenpick on our POI figures — Marrakech Menara Airport is 5.5 km. Pestana lists 3 km; Kenzi 5 km. None is a walk to the terminal; all are taxi practical.
