Stay at the Excelsior if you want pools, a spa and a private beach with Upper Barrakka 0.2 km away; stay on South Street or Castille Square if you want to walk out into the fortified centre; stay on Battery Street if the Grand Harbour view and a lower band matter more than housekeeping consistency.

Just outside Valletta’s historic entrance on the Marsamxett side — resort facilities (pool, spa, private beach) with Upper Barrakka Gardens a short walk away once you are through the gate.

Trade-off: You are outside the fortified grid, not on Republic Street. Guests praise location and staff; the same our hotel data provider analysis names aging facilities and internet connectivity issues, and the hotel’s own notes say the spa is charged extra and outdoor works can run for months.
