What is the worst use of Alaska / Atmos points?

The worst use is dumping Marriott Bonvoy into Atmos at 3:1 without a priced award, or assuming Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards or Capital One Miles will land here — they do not appear as standard Alaska transfer partners. Low-value non-flight redemptions also destroy the currency versus a confirmed partner seat.

Marriott’s August 2026 transfer table lists Atmos Rewards at 3:1, with Marriott’s stated block bonus rules for most airlines — Atmos is not on Marriott’s exclusion list for the standard 5,000-mile bonus per 60,000 Bonvoy points, but confirm the live Marriott page before you rely on it.

Even with a bonus, 3:1 is usually a last-resort top-up, not a strategy. Prefer keeping Bonvoy for hotels — Marriott Bonvoy complete guide — unless a specific Atmos award is already held or visible.

Who this is NOT for: travellers whose only bank points sit in Amex, Chase or Capital One and who refuse to earn on Alaska metal or Bilt. Those currencies fund other airlines; they do not magically become Alaska miles.
