Which Asian countries need a digital arrival card?
Link to this answerThailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Taiwan ask most arrivals to submit an online arrival card shortly before landing, and Japan offers Visit Japan Web for the same job. Every one of these official forms is free. An arrival card is not a visa and does not replace one.
Several of them replaced paper forms that used to be handed out on the plane. Each takes a few minutes: passport details, flight number and where you are staying. The table lists who must submit each one, the submission window and the official site, read on 16 October 2026.
The common mistake is paying a lookalike site. Searches for these forms return agency pages that charge for a form the government gives away. If a site asks for card payment for an arrival card in this table, it is not the official one.
| Card | Who must submit it | When | Cost | Official site |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) | All foreign nationals arriving by air, land or sea, visa holders and residents included; exempt only if transiting without passing immigration or entering on a Border Pass | Within 3 days before arrival | Free | tdac.immigration.go.th |
| Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) | All foreign citizens entering Malaysia; exemptions include Singapore citizens, diplomatic and official passport holders, and Malaysian permanent residents and long-term pass holders | Within 3 days before arrival | Free | imigresen-online.imi.gov.my |
| SG Arrival Card (SGAC) with Electronic Health Declaration | All travellers, Singapore residents included; exempt if transiting without clearing immigration, or a resident entering through the Woodlands or Tuas land checkpoints | Within 3 days before arrival, including the day of arrival | Free | ica.gov.sg |
| All Indonesia arrival declaration | All international arrivals, Indonesian citizens included; one form covers immigration, customs, health and quarantine | Within 3 days before arrival (it can also be completed on landing) | Free | allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id |
| eTravel (Philippine Travel Information System) | All arriving passengers and crew, Filipino and foreign, plus departing Filipinos; diplomats, 9(e) visa holders and diplomatic or official passport holders are exempt | Within 72 hours before arrival | Free | etravel.gov.ph |
| Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) | All travellers, visa holders included; it replaces the paper immigration, health and customs forms (the official site lists the Techo, Siem Reap Angkor and Sihanoukville airports) | Within 7 days before arrival | Free | arrival.gov.kh |
| Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) | Foreign nationals without an Alien Resident Certificate, resident visa or diplomatic ID, plus some mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau permit holders and nationals without household registration | Within 7 days before arrival, including the day of arrival | Free | twac.immigration.gov.tw |

When should you fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card?
Link to this answerWithin 3 days before arrival, on the official TDAC site. It is free and required of all foreign nationals arriving by air, land or sea, visa holders and residents included; exempt only if transiting without passing immigration or entering on a Border Pass.
Mandatory from 1 May 2025, replacing the paper TM6 arrival card. Our TDAC walkthrough goes through each field.
Does Indonesia still use the e-CD customs form?
Link to this answerNo. The All Indonesia declaration now covers immigration, customs, health and quarantine in one free form, submitted within 3 days before arrival (it can also be completed on landing). Visitors who need a visa on arrival still apply for that separately.
Mandatory at Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali airports and Batam port from 1 Sep 2025, then at all airports and seaports from 1 Oct 2025; it replaces the separate e-CD customs declaration and health declaration. The official form is at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id.
The electronic visa on arrival is a separate step and is not free: IDR 500,000, from the official e-Visa site. See our Bali visa on arrival guide.
- Fill the card in after you have your flight number and first address.
- Screenshot the confirmation or QR code; airport Wi-Fi is not guaranteed.
- Each traveller, children included, usually needs their own submission.
- All values here are in the open dataset at entry authorisations.
