Which Beijing Capital lounge should you head for?

Most international departures leave from Terminal 3E, where Air China runs its First Class Lounge near Gate E20 and business lounges near E19, and Cathay has a refurbished lounge beside E20. Priority Pass members use BGS Premier or Joy Rest. Air China connections of four to twelve hours can qualify for a free transit lounge.

Air China’s Beijing airport guide splits its Capital operations between Terminals 2 and 3. International passengers check in at T3C and take the shuttle train to T3E for border and security checks. The guide lists Air China VIP lounges near Gate C33 in T3C, near Gates E19 and E20 in T3E, and opposite Gate 32 in Terminal 2. Sources on this page were checked on 17 October 2026.

Capital is not Beijing’s only international airport. At Daxing (PKX), Priority Pass lists China Eastern’s international V5 lounge and China Southern’s VIP lounges, while at Capital it shows only one domestic China Eastern room and nothing from China Southern. Check the code on your ticket before reading further.

What lounges are at Beijing Capital, and who can use them?

Air China dominates: a first class lounge, business lounges and a free transit lounge in Terminal 3E, with more rooms for domestic flights in T3C and Terminal 2. Cathay has one lounge in 3E. Independent BGS Premier and Joy Rest lounges take Priority Pass, and Terminal 2 adds Hainan Airlines and China Eastern rooms.

The table combines Air China’s guide, the Star Alliance lounge finder, Cathay Pacific and Priority Pass’s Capital page. Sources disagree about which floor the T3E lounges are on, so we give gates only.

Star Alliance also lists a contract lounge called First/Business Class Lounge on the fourth floor of T3C near Gates C31–32, used only by some member airlines. Priority Pass adds massage and spa visits at Comfort Zone and Cuier Massage in place of a lounge visit, in T3C, T3E and before security in Terminals 2 and 3.

Where do business and first class passengers go at Capital?

Link to this answer

On Air China or another Star Alliance airline, international First passengers use the First Class Lounge near E20 and Business passengers the lounge by E19. Cathay and other oneworld premium passengers use Cathay’s lounge beside E20. Some Star partners contract BGS Premier instead, so check what your airline names before walking.

The Star Alliance policy lets international First passengers into first class lounges with one guest flying Star Alliance from Beijing, and Business passengers into any member’s business lounge without a guest, as long as the flight is member-operated and leaves that day or by 05:00 the next morning. The lounge finder names BGS Premier above Gate E19 as a contract lounge for some members.

Cathay’s Beijing lounge reopened in 2025 after a refit, according to the Cathay notice on The Wing, First. It lists a Noodle Bar with Beijing bean paste noodles and Hong Kong wonton noodles, a Food Hall, and a Terrace with a Teahouse where specialists brew loose-leaf Chinese teas to order.

For domestic First and Business on Air China, use the T3C lounges near Gate C33 or Gate C04, or the Terminal 2 lounge between Gates 32 and 33 if your flight leaves from there.

Which Capital lounges does airline status get you into?

Star Alliance Gold gets Air China’s business lounges on any Star-operated flight, with a guest on the same flight. Air China’s own PhoenixMiles tiers go further: Platinum uses the First Class Lounge, Gold the business lounge, and Silver the business lounge free on Air China international flights. Cathay and oneworld elites use Cathay’s lounge.

PhoenixMiles’ benefits table adds the details. Platinum and Gold members each bring one guest, who must fly a Star Alliance airline that day. Silver members on an Air China or Shenzhen Airlines international flight use the business lounge at Capital’s Terminal 3 free; on domestic flights they can spend 1,500 km for the same room. Star Alliance Silver alone gives no lounge access.

Cathay’s admittance rules give Diamond members two guests, Gold one and Silver none, on Cathay flights; Diamond and Gold also qualify on other oneworld airlines’ flights. oneworld’s policy admits Emerald members to first and business lounges and Sapphire members to business lounges on eligible oneworld flights.

Does a credit card help at Beijing Capital?

Only through the memberships it includes. No card-branded lounge appears in the Capital listings we checked, so a premium card usually helps through Priority Pass. Eligible Cathay co-branded cardholders can redeem Asia Miles for a pass to Cathay’s Beijing lounge, which a companion or a nominee you name can use instead.

A business class pass costs 15,000 Asia Miles on Cathay’s redemption page, and Green members qualify if they hold an eligible co-branded card. The pass is valid for a year from redemption and works in Cathay-operated lounges before a Cathay-marketed or operated flight.

A spa visit through Priority Pass counts as a lounge visit, so check how many your card allows before choosing a massage over a seat. Our Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass comparison sets out how the card-linked memberships differ.

Which Beijing Capital lounges take Priority Pass?

Six lounges and seven spa outlets. In Terminal 3E, BGS Premier above Gate E19 and Joy Rest opposite E10 are open 24 hours. Terminal 2 has a second BGS Premier, Hainan Airlines’ Fortune Wings and China Eastern’s domestic V2. An Air China lounge also appears on the list, but its own page would not open for us.

The T3E BGS Premier Lounge allows three hours and has massage chairs; its Terminal 2 sister, next to Gate 5, adds a sleeping zone. Joy Rest caps stays at two hours. In Terminal 2, Fortune Wings follows Hainan Airlines’ schedule and China Eastern’s V2 has day beds.

Priority Pass’s Capital list also shows an Air China First and Business Class Lounge in Terminal 2, open 09:00–21:00, but its detail page sent us back to the list, so confirm in the app before relying on it. Spa visits in T3C run from 07:00 at the earliest; in T3E, Comfort Zone near Gates E14 and E26 opens 10:00–20:00.

Can you buy lounge access at Beijing Capital?

Link to this answer

Plaza Premium sells booked visits to Joy Rest in T3E and China Eastern’s V2 in Terminal 2, and Air China sells vouchers for its own lounges once you enter a ticket number. Neither shows a price up front. Star Alliance sells no entry here, and Cathay’s USD100 companion pass does not cover Beijing.

Plaza Premium’s Beijing page lists Joy Rest and China Eastern’s V2 at Capital alongside lounges at Daxing and two railway stations. Air China’s extra-services page offers its lounge voucher after a ticket check, and Star Alliance’s paid entry currently covers only Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro.

On Cathay, the companion lounge pass lists Shanghai Pudong as its only Chinese mainland lounge. The realistic paid route into Cathay’s Beijing room is therefore an Asia Miles pass: 15,000 miles for business, or 22,000 for first if you hold Diamond.

Which Capital lounge works for a long Air China connection?

Air China’s free transit lounge across from Gate E10: rooms for up to four hours, an unlimited public area, showers and snacks, for eligible connections of four to twelve hours booked in advance. Without it, BGS Premier above E19 and Joy Rest stay open all night, with three- and two-hour limits.

The transit lounge terms are strict. You need a single ticket numbered 999, both segments with a CA code, an outbound flight operated by Air China and an inbound one by Air China, Shandong Airlines or Shenzhen Airlines. O, I, X and N fares, award, free, infant and unaccompanied-child tickets and upgraded tickets are excluded. Arrivals must fall between 29 March and 31 December 2026, and bookings close before your first flight departs.

The service doesn’t apply to Air China international flights leaving from T3C or T3D, and guest rooms are limited, so request one on arrival. For an overnight Cathay departure, its lounge reopens at 00:15 until 03:15.

When is Daxing the right airport instead of Capital?

Link to this answer

Whenever your ticket says PKX. Daxing is a separate airport, and Priority Pass lists China Eastern’s V3 and V5 lounges, China Southern VIP lounges and several independent rooms there. Air China’s transit lounge also refuses itineraries that arrive at Daxing and leave from Capital, so a split-airport connection gets no lounge help.

Priority Pass’s Daxing page shows China Eastern’s V5 for international departures on the 4th floor and its domestic V3 by a lift near Gate C46, China Southern VIP Lounges 2 and 3 on the domestic side, the CHUM VIP Lounge near Gates A100–A105, the 24-hour East Pacific Passenger Lounge and The Lounge near Gate E80.

Air China’s transit lounge rules give Harbin to Daxing, then Capital to London, as an ineligible example. For moving between or out of the two airports, see which Beijing airport suits your trip and the Daxing transfer guide.

Which Capital lounge fits your ticket?

Link to this answer

Air China or Star Alliance First: the lounge near E20. Business or Star Alliance Gold: the lounge by E19. Cathay or oneworld: Cathay’s room beside E20, which also opens overnight. Priority Pass: BGS Premier or Joy Rest in 3E. Connecting on Air China for four hours or more: book the free transit lounge.

Capital rewards Air China loyalty more than any other airline’s, because PhoenixMiles Silver opens the business lounge on international flights. For everyone else, the 24-hour independent lounges in 3E are the dependable fallback.
