Traveloka, tiket.com or Agoda for Indonesia? Compare KAI trains, Whoosh, hotels, flights and tours, foreign cards, refunds, pay at hotel, loyalty and support.
Key takeaways
- No single site wins everything. For KAI trains and Whoosh, use Traveloka or tiket.com, because Agoda does not sell them in its own checkout.
- Traveloka and tiket.com are full Indonesian travel apps: flights, hotels, KAI trains, Whoosh, buses, airport transfers, car rental and attractions in one account.
- Neither is reliably cheaper. Prices for the same Bali or Jakarta room vary between platforms, and member rates, coupons and payment-method promotions change…
- Use whichever accepts your card on the day: both sell KAI intercity trains and Whoosh with English interfaces, and Traveloka accepts a passport as adult ID.
- Agoda is the safest default for a foreign card: it names Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and PayPal. tiket.com lets you pay in 16 currencies by credit card…
Traveloka vs tiket.com vs Agoda: which is the best booking site for Indonesia?
Link to this answerNo single site wins everything. For KAI trains and Whoosh, use Traveloka or tiket.com, because Agoda does not sell them in its own checkout. For hotels, compare all three on the same room and cancellation terms. Agoda names the most card networks plus PayPal; tiket.com publishes non-rupiah card payment. Choose per product, not per app.
This comparison is desk research, checked on 16 October 2026 against each platform’s own help centre and checkout pages. It is written for foreign visitors booking from abroad or on arrival. Indonesian residents with local bank accounts have far more payment routes on Traveloka and tiket.com, because both apps are built around rupiah methods such as virtual accounts, bank transfers and convenience-store payment; a visitor’s card is only one of many options.
Ownership matters for our disclosure, not for the verdict. Traveloka is an independent Southeast Asian travel platform, tiket.com belongs to the listed Blibli group, and Agoda states on its own site that it is part of Booking Holdings, which also owns Booking.com. TravelShifu can earn from Agoda and Booking.com links but not from Traveloka or tiket.com, so treat the table below as the evidence and our partner buttons as optional.
| Feature | Traveloka | tiket.com | Agoda |
|---|---|---|---|
| KAI intercity trains | Yes, in its own checkout | Yes, in its own checkout | No own checkout; its Trains link opens a 12Go-powered site |
| Whoosh high-speed rail | Yes | Yes | Not in its own checkout |
| Attractions and tours | Things to Do (Xperience in its help centre) | To Do | Activities |
| Hotels, villas and homes | Yes | Yes, plus Villas & Apt. | Yes, plus Homes & Apts |
| Car rental and transfers | Yes, both | Yes, both | Links to Booking.com car rental and a Transferz page |
| Non-rupiah payment | Display-currency selector; check the charge currency at checkout | 16 currencies by credit card, for flights, hotels and To Do only | Currency selector; check the charge currency at checkout |
| Pay at hotel | Selected rates | Selected rooms, in the app | Pay Later and pay-at-property rates on selected rooms |
| Loyalty | Traveloka Priority and Traveloka Points | Blibli Tiket Rewards and Blibli Tiket Points | AgodaVIP and AgodaCash |

What does each platform actually sell for an Indonesia trip?
Link to this answerTraveloka and tiket.com are full Indonesian travel apps: flights, hotels, KAI trains, Whoosh, buses, airport transfers, car rental and attractions in one account. Agoda is built around hotels and homes, sells flights and activities itself, and hands trains, buses, ferries, transfers and car rental to partner sites. Check whose checkout you are actually in.
On Agoda’s desktop site, the Transport menu we checked on 16 October 2026 sent trains, buses and ferries to agoda.12go.asia, a page marked as powered by 12Go, airport transfers to a Transferz page and car rental to Booking.com. Those are partner bookings with the partner’s own terms and support. That is not a flaw, but it means Agoda is not a like-for-like rival for an Indonesian rail itinerary. Our 12Go vs direct booking guide explains how that model works.
Traveloka’s menu lists Hotels, Flights, Trains, Whoosh, Bus & Travel, Airport Transfer, Car Rental, Things to Do and Cruises; its help centre still files attractions under the older Xperience name. tiket.com’s train search has KAI, Whoosh and a Japanese Shinkansen tab, alongside To Do attractions, events, car rental, bus and shuttle services and airport transfers. On both Indonesian apps you pay the app, receive its voucher or e-ticket and start any support request there.
For attractions, all three compete with specialist sites. Compare the same date, ticket type, pickup and cancellation rule against Klook, GetYourGuide or the venue itself; our GetYourGuide vs Viator vs Klook comparison sets out the differences. If a guided day is the real goal, read our sibling guide to hiring a private tour guide in Indonesia.
Traveloka vs Agoda for Indonesian hotels: which is cheaper?
Link to this answerNeither is reliably cheaper. Prices for the same Bali or Jakarta room vary between platforms, and member rates, coupons and payment-method promotions change the total. Compare the identical room, occupancy, breakfast and cancellation deadline on Traveloka, tiket.com and Agoda, then pay the lowest final amount in the currency you will actually be charged.
One published rule is worth knowing. Agoda’s Best Price Guarantee names Traveloka and Tiket.com among the platforms it compares against: if the same accommodation is bookable there for less on the same dates and conditions, Agoda says it will, at its discretion, match the rate or credit the difference as AgodaCash. The claim form must be submitted before 11:59 pm property time on the day before check-in.
The conditions are strict: same property, room and bed type, same or more flexible cancellation, same occupancy and benefits, same currency, and a final price including taxes and fees. It covers accommodation only, not flights, activities or packages, and excludes member-only, packaged and secret rates. Treat it as a backstop, not a reason to skip comparing.
Indonesian apps often show coupons tied to new accounts, Indonesian banks or e-wallets. A discount you cannot use with a foreign card is not a lower price for you. Record each quote with its payment timing and cancellation deadline, and see our Booking.com vs Agoda comparison for the same discipline applied to the two partner sites.
Ad · compare the same Indonesian property on Agoda and Booking.com against Traveloka and tiket.com, which we do not earn from. Pay-at-hotel and free-cancellation rates depend on the room and dates and are never guaranteed.

Traveloka vs tiket.com for KAI trains and Whoosh: which should you use?
Link to this answerUse whichever accepts your card on the day: both sell KAI intercity trains and Whoosh with English interfaces, and Traveloka accepts a passport as adult ID. The catch is the same on both. KAI cancellations follow KAI’s rules, with a 25% fee and refunds aimed at Indonesian bank accounts, e-wallets or cash at a station.
Neither app controls a KAI refund. Traveloka’s train refund article sends you to a designated KAI station counter with your e-ticket and ID, cites a 25% fee and warns that processing may take more than 30 days. tiket.com’s train cancellation article describes the same 25% deduction, station counters and online cancellation in the Access by KAI app, with refunds by Indonesian bank transfer, e-wallet or cash. Traveloka’s ID article lists a passport among accepted adult IDs.
The two help pages give different cut-off times, which is itself a warning: the rules come from KAI and change. Before relying on a refundable plan, check the current conditions with KAI or its 121 contact centre. Without an Indonesian bank account, a train refund may only be practical as cash collected at a station, so book the rail legs you are confident about.
Whoosh is sold by both apps, but it serves Halim, Karawang, Padalarang and Tegalluar rather than central Bandung station, as Traveloka’s Whoosh page points out. That page also says rescheduling of partner-sold tickets is handled at Whoosh station counters. Our Jakarta to Bandung Whoosh guide covers stations, feeder trains and the total door-to-door cost.
Which platform works best with a foreign card, currency and English?
Link to this answerAgoda is the safest default for a foreign card: it names Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and PayPal. tiket.com lets you pay in 16 currencies by credit card for flights, hotels and To Do, but non-rupiah orders earn no points. Traveloka offers card payment and many display currencies, but we found no foreign-card rules in its help centre.
Agoda’s help centre lists credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, AMEX and JCB, Visa or Mastercard debit cards, PayPal and regional methods, and says a foreign transaction fee on your statement comes from your bank, not Agoda. tiket.com’s currency article lists AUD, EUR, GBP, SGD and USD among its 16 options, but only for credit cards and only for flights, hotels and To Do, so trains are paid in rupiah. Non-rupiah orders also cannot use or earn Blibli Tiket Points.
Traveloka’s payment help is built around rupiah methods: virtual accounts, bank transfer, ATM, instant payment, Indomaret and Alfamart, instalments and its own PayLater. Its failed-card article suggests checking the authorisation code, credit limit and whether the card is enabled for e-commerce, but says nothing specific about cards issued abroad. Its currency selector includes GBP, EUR, AUD and SGD among many others; confirm the amount and currency on the final payment screen.
Whichever app you use, expect a one-time password from your card issuer, as tiket.com’s payment page notes, so keep roaming or Wi-Fi available while paying. If a card fails twice, switch card or platform rather than accepting help from a stranger offering to pay locally. All three sites run in English; Traveloka and tiket.com open on Indonesian promotions and rupiah, so set language and currency before searching.
How do Traveloka, tiket.com and Agoda refund and reschedule policies compare?
Link to this answerAll three apply the supplier’s rules first: the airline’s fare, the hotel’s cancellation policy or KAI’s rail conditions. The platform then adds its own process, fees and refund route. Read the selected rate before paying, and use each official help page below rather than a phone number from a search advert.
Flights: Traveloka’s refund guide shows an estimate before you submit, and its Easy Reschedule guide keeps your original ticket valid until you pay the quoted difference. tiket.com’s Smart Refund page states a 10% fee per passenger per journey, allows up to 30 calendar days (60 for Lion Group airlines) and may pay out as BlibliPay balance; its international reschedule page says non-rupiah orders must be changed with the airline. Agoda’s flight help lists a handling fee of up to US$50 per passenger per change, on top of airline charges.
Hotels: Traveloka’s hotel refund article says the property must approve and processing takes 3 to 14 days. tiket.com’s refund overview gives up to 7 calendar days for hotels, To Do and transfers, reduced by any promo value used. Agoda’s help centre says the property sets cancellation fees, some bookings show a Request waiver option, and card refunds can take 30 to 45 business days to appear in most countries, depending on the issuer.
Attractions follow the product’s own rule; Traveloka publishes separate Xperience cancellation guidance. Traveloka refunds can also land in a Refund Balance, which its help centre says can be withdrawn to a saved bank account. Screenshot the conditions you accepted, keep the request reference, and use our missing hotel booking checklist if a property cannot find you.
| Product | Traveloka | tiket.com | Agoda |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flights | In-app refund with estimate; Easy Reschedule | Smart Refund with 10% fee; Smart Reschedule on some international airlines | Booking policy plus a handling fee per change |
| Hotels | Hotel approval, then 3–14 days | Up to 7 calendar days | Property policy; card refunds can take weeks |
| KAI trains | KAI station counter, 25% fee | KAI counter or Access by KAI, 25% fee | Not sold in its own checkout |
| Where money returns | Original method or Refund Balance | Original method or BlibliPay balance | Original method; some routes via Wise or AgodaCash |
Which platforms offer pay at hotel in Indonesia, and does it mean free cancellation?
Link to this answerAll three offer pay-later or pay-at-property rates on selected rooms, but the label never means free cancellation. A card guarantee is often required, a no-show can be charged, and the property may bill in its local currency at its own timing. Compare the cancellation deadline first, then decide whether paying later is worth any price difference.
tiket.com’s Pay at Hotel page says the option is app-only, needs a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card for its standard option, charges a no-show according to the hotel’s policy and bills in the property’s currency at the exchange rate on the billing date; some rooms offer a no-credit-card variant. Traveloka’s guarantee guidance also warns that a guarantee can be charged for a no-show, and its Pay at Hotel cancellation article lets you self-cancel only within a free-cancellation window.
Agoda separates Pay Later, where Agoda charges your card on a stated date, from rates where the property collects payment and its own name appears on your statement; its help centre adds that pay-at-hotel rates often still need a card to secure the room. Our pay at hotel vs pay now guide explains deposits, currency and deadlines, and My Trip can hold the deadline as a calendar reminder.
Are Traveloka Points, Blibli Tiket Points or AgodaVIP worth it for a visitor?
Link to this answerRarely a reason to pick a platform for one trip. Traveloka Priority and AgodaVIP offer tiered discounts on selected deals, while Blibli Tiket Points are worth one rupiah each but cannot be earned on non-rupiah payments. Points expire, tiers reset and perks change, so book on price and terms and treat any reward as a bonus.
Traveloka Priority runs from Bronze to Diamond on Priority XP. Its programme page awards 120 XP per IDR1,000 spent on accommodation but only 1 XP per IDR1,000 on trains, and lists perks from hotel discounts to an airport lounge benefit at Diamond. Traveloka Points are separate: they can be redeemed against bookings and coupons, whereas XP only measures tier progress.
tiket.com’s scheme is Blibli Tiket Rewards, shared with Blibli, with Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond tiers. Blibli Tiket Points become active a day after the trip, are worth Rp1 each, can cover at most half of a tiket.com order and cannot be cashed out; tiers are reviewed every 1 January.
Agoda’s scheme is AgodaVIP. Antara carried Agoda’s announcement of a Diamond tier in October 2025, with priority support and up to 25% off exclusive deals. AgodaCash is different again: Agoda’s terms say it is awarded at Agoda’s discretion, has no cash value and can be redeemed only for accommodation on Agoda. Check the expiry date before counting any balance as savings.
Which has the best customer service in English?
Link to this answerAll three offer English support, in different shapes. Agoda routes help through 24/7 messaging attached to your booking. tiket.com advertises 24/7 halo tiket chat, email and an international call-centre number. Traveloka publishes email and phone contacts alongside its help centre. Whichever you use, start from the booking inside the official app or site.
Agoda’s contact page says its team works 24/7 through the messaging feature reached from Manage My Booking and steers customers away from hunting for a hotline. tiket.com’s help centre lists chat, email, a quick report form and call-centre numbers for Indonesian and international callers, and lets you set halo tiket’s language to English. Traveloka’s Contact Us page gives an email address, links to phone numbers and advises logging in for faster help; its help centre also has a scams-report section.
We have not measured response times and do not publish ratings for any of the three. The common failure is impersonation: fake hotlines in search adverts and social-media agents. tiket.com’s help centre warns never to pay outside its official platform. Hang up on unexpected callers, open the app yourself and keep the booking reference and screenshots; our Traveloka and tiket.com guides cover the scam patterns in more depth.
Which should you use for trains, local deals, an international card and English support?
Link to this answerTrains and Whoosh: Traveloka or tiket.com. Local deals: compare Traveloka and tiket.com, checking each coupon works with your payment method. International card: Agoda first for hotels, tiket.com when you want to pay in your own currency. English support: Agoda’s booking-linked messaging, while tiket.com also advertises round-the-clock chat.
This is a verdict by task, not a brand ranking. A sensible Indonesia workflow is: rail legs on Traveloka or tiket.com, flights compared on both apps and the airline, hotels compared on all three plus the property, and attractions compared with a specialist or the venue. Split bookings mean separate cancellation terms, so keep each confirmation and deadline in one place.
If you prefer one international account and English-first help, Agoda covers hotels, flights and activities and passes other transport to partners. If you want everything Indonesian in one app, including trains and Whoosh, Traveloka and tiket.com are the realistic choices. Either way, we earn nothing from Traveloka or tiket.com, and the Agoda and Booking.com links on this page are labelled.
| Need | Start with | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| KAI trains and Whoosh | Traveloka or tiket.com | KAI refunds: 25% fee, Indonesian bank account or station cash |
| Local deals | Traveloka and tiket.com side by side | Coupons tied to Indonesian banks, e-wallets or new accounts |
| International card | Agoda; tiket.com for non-rupiah card payment | Bank foreign transaction fees and one-time password delivery |
| English support | Agoda messaging; tiket.com 24/7 chat | Fake hotlines and social-media agents |
| Hotels | All three plus the property | Different cancellation terms on similar-looking rates |
| Attractions | Platform plus a specialist or the venue | Headline prices that exclude pickup or surcharges |
