Is the Singapore Airlines First Class Lounge worth it?

For Suites and First passengers at Changi, yes, but there are two rooms to choose between. The Private Room in Terminal 3 is reserved for Singapore Airlines’ own Suites and First tickets and takes no guests. The First Class SilverKris Lounge admits Solitaire PPS members, Star Alliance first class and Suites or First passengers with a companion.

Singapore Airlines’ 2022 backgrounder describes the Terminal 3 SilverKris Lounge as three lounges in one: The Private Room, a First Class section and a Business Class section, all on level 3 above Departure Gate A, with separate entrances from a shared foyer. “First class lounge” can therefore mean either of the first two, and the airline’s access table decides which you get.

Since 7 November 2025 there has also been a new First Class SilverKris Lounge in Terminal 2, which SilverKris, the airline’s magazine, says opened as the first phase of the Terminal 2 rebuild. This page covers both first-class rooms; the business-class section has its own page.

Which first-class room will Singapore Airlines send you to?

It depends on your ticket and your company. Suites or First on a Singapore Airlines flight, travelling alone, opens The Private Room. Add a companion on the same flight and you both go to the First Class SilverKris Lounge. Solitaire PPS Club members and first-class passengers on other Star Alliance airlines use that lounge as well.

The access table, marked accurate as of 18 June 2024, carries the footnotes that matter. The Private Room has a no-guest policy, so Suites and First passengers flying with a guest on the same flight are invited to the First Class SilverKris Lounge. Solitaire PPS Club members can invite a guest departing on the same flight. Arriving Suites and First passengers on Singapore Airlines may use either room, and arriving Solitaire members the First Class SilverKris Lounge.

Star Alliance’s access policy names Singapore Airlines’ The Private Room among the ultra-premium lounges excluded from alliance first-class access, which is why first-class passengers on other member airlines end up in the First Class SilverKris Lounge instead.

Where are the first-class lounges at Changi, and when are they open?

In Terminal 3, The Private Room and the First Class SilverKris Lounge share the SilverKris complex on level 3, near the A gates, after immigration. Singapore Airlines lists The Private Room as open 05:30 to 02:30. The newer Terminal 2 First Class SilverKris Lounge is on level 3 near the E gates.

Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris page places the Terminal 3 lounge on level 3, nearer the A gates, after customs, immigration and quarantine clearance, and lists the Terminal 3 SilverKris Lounge as open 24 hours. The Private Room is the only part with restricted hours on that page, 05:30 to 02:30, so a departure in the small hours means the First Class SilverKris Lounge.

For Terminal 2, SilverKris places the new lounge on the third level near Departure Gate E. The SilverKris page lists The Private Room only under Terminal 3, and Singapore Airlines’ check-in page says flights to South-east Asia, Japan (except SQ12), South Korea, Dhaka, Malé, Kathmandu and Colombo check in at Terminal 2, so passengers on those routes start their day there.

What does The Private Room offer that the First Class SilverKris Lounge does not?

Waited, à la carte dining. Singapore Airlines calls The Private Room the only lounge with a fine-dining experience, citing dishes such as laksa with lobster and wagyu satay, and gives it four day rooms, booth seating and capacity for 78. The First Class SilverKris Lounge feeds you from a live cooking station and buffet instead.

The backgrounder describes The Private Room’s four day rooms, each with either a Poltrona Frau recliner or a Tempur Zero G bed, yoga mats from COMO Shambhala, GROHE-fitted en-suite showers, a wheelchair-accessible shower room and a baby care room. Its signature is waited à la carte service with local and seasonal dishes, premium wines and cheeses; the launch release gives its capacity as 78 Suites and First Class customers.

The First Class section also has four day rooms with the same recliner or bed choice, productivity pods, a meeting room for up to six, a playroom, and a dining area for more than 50 with four family booths. Its live cooking station serves dishes such as bak chor mee, roti prata and egg breakfasts, and its Lalique-decorated bar pours barista coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening.

Those descriptions date from the 2022 reopening. Singapore Airlines’ current lounge page lists The Private Room’s facilities more briefly, as warm food and light snacks, barista and bartender service, a rest area, a quiet room, a play room, showers and a baby care room.

What is in the new Terminal 2 First Class SilverKris Lounge?

It opened on 7 November 2025 as the first part of a S$45 million Terminal 2 rebuild. Singapore Airlines’ magazine describes 1,050 square metres with almost 130 seats, a 12-seat bar, live cooking, four en-suite shower rooms, four resting pods with recliners, a meeting room, phone booths, a playroom and a nursing room.

SilverKris reports that the bar serves barista coffee from 6am to 10am and cocktails from 5:30pm to 1am, that the buffet mirrors the Terminal 3 flagship, and that the shower suites carry Lalique toiletries and Dyson hairdryers, with a separate wheelchair-accessible shower. It lists the same eligible groups as Terminal 3: Suites and First, Solitaire PPS Club, and Star Alliance first class.

Singapore Airlines’ April 2025 release set out the S$45 million plan: work began on 15 April 2025, in phases, with completion expected around mid-2027 and 50% more space across the Terminal 2 lounges. SilverKris now says the business-class and KrisFlyer Gold lounges will follow in 2027.

If your Suites or First flight checks in at Terminal 2, this is the newest first-class room in the network. The Private Room’s waited dining is listed only in Terminal 3, and the access table does not say whether you can use it before a Terminal 2 departure, so ask at the First Class Check-in Reception.

With a Suites or First ticket, how early is it worth arriving?

Early enough to use the First Class Check-in Reception and still give The Private Room a full meal. The reception has its own driveway at Terminal 3 and a private entrance to immigration. If you are travelling with a companion, accept the First Class SilverKris Lounge; The Private Room will not admit your guest.

Singapore Airlines opens the First Class Check-in Reception to Suites, First Class and Solitaire PPS Club passengers with confirmed bookings on Singapore Airlines-operated flights, from 05:00 to 02:00 at Terminal 3 and 04:30 to 02:00 at Terminal 2. At Terminal 3 you turn left before Departure Hall Door 1 into the First Class Driveway; a porter takes your bags, and a private entrance leads from the reception to immigration.

Changi admits departing passengers to the transit area only within 24 hours of their flight, according to Singapore Airlines’ check-in page, so an early arrival is capped. Within that, the order that makes sense is meal first, shower second and, if you want rest, a day room, since the backgrounder lists them in both first-class rooms.

Solitaire PPS Club members flying business or economy should treat the First Class SilverKris Lounge as their default rather than a treat: it is the lounge the access table assigns them on every Singapore Airlines departure from Changi.

Can you pay, or use Priority Pass, to get in?

No. Singapore Airlines’ lounge pages offer no paid entry to either first-class room, and its access table lists no lounge-membership route. The ways in are a Suites or First ticket, Solitaire PPS Club status, first class on another Star Alliance airline, or being the named guest of an eligible passenger on the same flight.

Solitaire PPS Club is earned with 50,000 PPS Value, which Singapore Airlines says you accumulate by flying Suites, First or Business as a KrisFlyer member; its listed benefits include First Class check-in at Changi and access to the First Class area of the SilverKris Lounge. That is a business-travel tier, not a shortcut.

If you have Priority Pass and none of the above, the Priority Pass Changi page lists the Ambassador Transit Lounge, SATS Premier Lounge and Marhaba Lounge in Terminal 3, each shown as open around the clock. They are where a Priority Pass card works at Changi; none of them is a substitute for a first-class room.

Not eligible for first class: where should you go at Changi instead?

Business-class passengers, PPS Club members in any cabin and Gold members flying business go to the Business Class SilverKris Lounge in the same Terminal 3 complex. Gold members in economy go to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge. Without a ticket or status that qualifies, Changi’s Priority Pass lounges and the terminal itself are the options.

Outside Singapore, Singapore Airlines’ first-class sections are few: the access table says only its Hong Kong, London, Melbourne and Sydney SilverKris lounges have one. We checked every page linked here on 17 October 2026. Changi Airport’s own lounge directory loads its listings with scripts our check could not read, so the locations come from Singapore Airlines. The detailed amenity descriptions are the airline’s from May 2022 and November 2025; menus and day-room availability change, so treat them as a guide to what each room is built for.

We left out ratings, crowding and dress-code claims because the Singapore Airlines pages we read publish none for these rooms.
